MOTORING fans were treated to a weekend of fast and furious action at the Japan Super GT Series at the Sepang International Circuit.
The race has been in Malaysia for the past 10 years with its own following and is the only round to be held out of Japan.
In the GT500 category, three major Japanese manufacturers competed against each other — Honda, Lexus and Nissan while there were Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Moslers, Corvettes and Subarus in the GT300 class.

In the GT300 class, the BMW Z4 GT3 of GSR&Studie with TeamUKYO took top honours in a nail-biting finish which almost saw the second placed Ferrari 458 of Team Jimgainer overtake on a number of occasions in the last few laps.

Other activities held over the weekend included the Super GT Malaysia Queen Pageant, anime exhibition, flea market, weekend bazaar, mini concerts and a circuit safari, where fans were taken for a 10-minute safari bus ride around the track while the cars were doing their warm-up laps.
Event organiser JP Performance Motorsport chairman JP Chin was delighted with the turnout and looked forward to an even bigger event next year.
“We have achieved our target of bringing a world of entertainment into the world of motorsports and I am pleased at the response we have received. We will strive to make next year’s event even bigger and better,” he said.
